Want to teach your kids about money? here is what to do.
Money is an important part of our daily lives, it is imperative therefore that you start early to teach your kids about money.
Kids have a penchant for asking you to buy things that are not necessary, anyone here who loves to do that? raise your hand if you do, because I don’t.
Making money and money management is something we ought to start teaching our kids early in life, especially if you are a business owner.
Great businesses are only sustained when there is someone to pass it on to. Your small home business may turn out to be something that your child will take on and expand to a big-time business later on
So it pays to begin to prepare them early enough.
While I will not subscribe to forcing a child to follow a particular career path,
So that they can begin to form attitudes on how income is made, spent and multiplied.
One of the most confusing questions about this topic is usually when to start?
Here is my simple answer: start as soon as they can communicate with you.
I started teaching my son about money when he turned 4.
I started by telling him that every money that is spent is earned, therefore if he wants something he has to think of what to do in other to earn the money that he needs.
It was within this concept that he came to understand how money is earned.
Yours may take longer depending on the circumstances,
The most important thing is that you are taking the initiative to start helping them understand how money is made
Thereby helping them to imbibe money habits early in life.

To Teach Your Kids About Money, Here Are 5 Simple Things To Do
1 Involve them in money related activities in the Home.
Whenever we want to buy Gas for the car, I always ask my son to get the receipt from the pump owner and in that process, we discuss how much money has been spent on Gas. Simple activities like this teach kids how money is spent in the home.
2 Create opportunities that show how money is Earned
Sometimes I may be working on my computer and my kids want to play.
I make them understand that mom has to work in other to earn the money we use in the house.
That way they are able to respect the time I put into making a living for us.
Of course, there will be times they will say they want to work too, that is what led me to the next point.
3 Create chore charts and award Tokens.
This past summer, I created a chore chart with tokens attached,
Each chore had tokens attached to it and my kids were responsible for writing down the tokens which they earned for the chores they did.
Exchange the tokens for cash for later use.
This activity makes them feel like they are earning their own money,
Call it mini jobs and you will not be far from it.
4 Teach them the principles of creating Wealth.
Making money is simple, you do stuff and you get paid, then you spend it, but what about creating sustainable wealth?
I thought hard before I started out on this one. I used a story of chicken and eggs to teach them how to multiply their money.
It’s a simple story of how you buy a chicken with some amount of money,
Feed it for some time until it lays eggs, the eggs hatch and you have more chickens to sell.
Stories like this give kids an idea of how to multiply their money to yield more.
I believe that we will move on to practice this concept with time.
5 Use the Proverbial Piggy Bank :
Get them a piggy bank and let each kid be responsible for saving some amount of money each day.
Whether it is earned via the chore charts or received as a gift.
At the end of some time perhaps a year or so, you can open the piggy bank and count out how much the child has saved.
Then open a savings account from it.
This will help your child understand how money works and also appreciate the principle of saving for later.
6 Use Board games to teach your kids about money Investment.
Board games even though they are simulation often helps one to appreciate how money is made and invested.
Taking advantage of games such as Richdad’s Cashflow for Kids will help you teach your child how to invest their money.
Other games that help teach kids about money includes: Act your wage, Thrive time for teens, Buy It right, Exact change, Allowance game, The stock exchange game, Payday, and Moneybags.

To the mom who is struggling financially, I see you.
Its almost Mothers day and I can’t believe that we just celebrated one not too long ago last year. In my last mothers day post, I wrote about 6 things I have learned in my motherhood Journey. This Mothers day I want to write about the Mom who is struggling financially, to the mom who daily struggles to make ends meet, I see you, this one is for you.
It is for the mom who is struggling financially trying to balance both keeping the home and making a living. You may work outside your home or perhaps you work within your home, It’s to you I dedicate this post too. I am writing here to say I see you and I got your back. Here are 4 things that I feel will help you get your perspective in other to win in your race to become a great mom and to also build a legacy.
If you are in that place where you feel harassed, disorganized and you feel like things are spiraling out of control especially with your finances. The first thing you need to do is to pray, this is because when you pray you are connecting to someone who is bigger than you which is our Lord Jesus, you are connecting to him because he knows answers which you do not know.
Going to him in prayer about what you are going through is a good way to begin to source for the solutions to what you are going through. It doesn’t matter that it may not have been what you planned for or that you made a mistake, what matters is that you are reaching out to him in prayers and seeking out answers to questions that are bordering you. If you have prayed well on your issues, you will get answers from the Lord, sometimes the answers may drop as a thought into your mind, and from that thought, ideas begin to form. Begin to plan with those ideas and thoughts that are coming into your mind.
Some of those thoughts may have to do with cutting down on expenses that are needless and are sucking finances or perhaps renegotiating a loan that you took that is choking your finances that won’t let you plan ahead. It can even be a new way of making money that will increase your financial sources and hence enable you to get out of debt. Whatever that thought is, write it down and begin to plan how you will implement it.
All the plans in the whole world without any action to back it up will be useless, begin immediately to take action. Plug that financial hole that is draining your finances, say no to that new shiny loan that will purportedly help you to get out of debt and plug you into a deeper one.
Cut down on what you do need and do away with what you do not need by selling off those excess properties and plugging the cash into your debt to reduce it.
Ensure that you are doing all in your power to stop the excesses that led to your indebtedness. Begin to implement new ways of increasing your income, it could be via a second job or perhaps a home business or even simply adding money-making options to what you are already doing. You will notice that as you take these actions, it will take you out of the rut of helplessness to a place of hope.
Be thankful for the progress you have made:
The little differences that your actions make in your finances, no matter how little it is, celebrate them and repeat them again. It is a baby step, yes but you will keep walking until you walk out of debt. Be thankful for where you are in life and believe God that he is leading you out of financial struggles into financial abundance. Do not fret about the things that may not be working now but work consistently to improve on it until you get better at it.

This post is about that momma who may not want to start a full-fledged business but wants to make money from home. In this post, I want to describe7 activities that you can do at home to make money from home without necessarily running it as a full-time business. If you are really good at copywriting you can have the opportunity to charge people who need copies written for their products which they want to sell. Another way you can make money is by registering with sites like Digital Nomads and watching out for companies that are looking to hire writers for their blogs or websites. The good thing about freelance writing is that you get to choose your own timing and how much work you want to do.
This a cool way of making money without having to carry people in your car.The good thing about this idea is that you can just load up your kids into the car, have a wonderful ride while making money at the same time, how cool is that.
Companies like Doordash have restaurants signed up with them who then have freelance workers like you sign up with them to help them do deliveries. The good thing is that you get to choose your working time. Another company that partners with people to help do their delivery is postmates, they do all kinds of delivery for their customers.
Are you a person who loves shopping, there is something for you to do, you can sign up with companies like thumbtack a platform that connects personal shoppers with those who need their services in that area. Personal shopping often is interwoven with personal styling, so you can find yourself thinking of taking it to a full-time business as you help more people do their shopping and styling.

A web search evaluator analyzes search results for quality and relevance. It’s a job that algorithms do but the only issue is that it lacks the human angle to it. Online surveys are the king of side hustles if you are willing to sign up to as many as possible and be patient enough to take the surveys to make you money. It’s a major way some people make money from home, it may come in different ways, some require that you take their surveys as they are sent your way. To be a stay at home mom is one of the greatest sacrifices you can make as a mother for yourself and your family. It’s a great gift of self and time which you invest in your family in other to nurture your kids and see them grow into the wonderful people you envision for them.

I wasn’t so concerned about posterity when I had my first child which was a boy because I felt, well he had his dad to look up to, I am not a man so I do not have any manly attributes to pass on to him.

Believe me, this thoughts and feelings contributed to my starting this Blog. Statistics from a Gallup poll conducted indicate that stay at home moms are more likely to express negative emotions such as worry, anger, depression, and anxiety as compared to moms who work.
Ever met any of your colleagues from high school or even college mates who are doing extremely well on their jobs, and you felt like life just left you behind because you chose to be a stay at home mom. I know how it feels like, that’s why I wrote 6 things a stay at home mom struggles with. In that post, I chronicled the feelings of a stay at home mom.
I also provided solutions to those feelings, I will like you to take time to read it. Starting a home business can help you be less depressed and unhappy. I am not saying this is the only reason you may be unhappy right now but no matter what it is you are going through having that time in which you run your own business can be therapeutic and help fulfill a need that may have been worse if you are not.
You are preparing for the empty nest syndrome
No matter how long it takes, raising kids will not be forever, there will come a time when your kids have all grown up and flown the coop as the saying goes. This is usually a scary time for women if you have devoted your full time to care for them.
I know some will say I can always go back to the workforce, the problem is that the workforce may not be that easy to get back to because of change in times and competition from younger people. I belong to a community of job seekers where they are continuously complaining about not getting the jobs they want because of age.
While it may not be expressly stated because it’s against the law, Its often a reason why we have a lot of old people who want a job but can’t get one. A home business will provide you the opportunity to keep doing what you love and keeps you going when everyone has left home. You might even find that you now have more time to devote to making it a big-time business if it has not grown into one. I believe you can say it’s your own job security for a lifetime.
Life Needs a Backup Plan:
Here is one reason that you cannot pass up even if you did the other reasons I have listed above. That is the fact that Life happens, you may lose your Hubby, or he may lose his ability to earn perhaps via accident or lay off. You may also get divorced and find yourself without a job and kids to look after. That is why a Home business is never an alternative or a choice but an obligation you owe yourself and family to ensure you live a life that is worth it.

5 tips on how to kick chaos and organize your week as a home business owner
So you started that Home business and now what? all hell is about to break loose, how are you supposed to take care of your kids, do your family duties, be nice and look good for your hubby while still running a home business or perhaps working from home.
You probably lack organization skills and you have never thought about how to organize your week talk more of having to organize your home office to fit into your daily home activities.
You are beginning to think you just got into deep water without knowing how you got there, the baby is crying and hanging onto you for dear life, he wants to breastfeed, Moooom I am hungry, or I want to fix my broken toy and then the proverbial we have to do my homework ( I am actually thinking no child loves to say that, but some do, my son likes his homework time even though I suspect its because he gets to correct my pronunciation or tell me why the workbook is wrong lol)
Whichever condition your life is in right now, there is a way out.Don’t lose it just yet or give up and go back to your before business life, there is what to do and I will show you what to do, the how and what to use. Follow me, I will start by laying out a month’s plan which you can then break down into weeks then into days.
To organize your week as a home business owner, here is what you have to do.
1 Define your priorities
In one new month, there is only so much that you can achieve, especially if you just started a new home business and you are trying hard to build it. Running all over the place and splitting hairs everywhere will not move you forward, you have to decide what is your priority for that month as a business and then face it, tackle it and get it done. For you to do this, you will need to focus on knowing what you need for now.
Since you work at home, you may know have noticed that you are consistently moving from your work to your home activities so you can’t just prioritize your business activities without including your home activities it will not work.
To start off, you will need to answer an important question yourself, and that is what is the one thing that you want to achieve this month as a family and as a business?
Write it down on a Post-it note and stick it on your table in front of you and your planning has just begun. You can name it your Big hairy audacious goal (BHAG) like Jim Collins in the book Built to last
2 Set your Goals
I already mentioned setting up your goals in the above tip, that is your overarching goals for the month, I don’t want to even use the word year here because it may send some people running for cover, so lets stick to planning for one month and then one week and perhaps you can replicate it each week and then a month and finally make up your year.
I know this looks like its in the reverse order, but I am writing from the perspective of one who may not be a planning addict but realizes that you need it now that you have a business. One day or one week at a time helps, that way you ease in nice and good without feeling overwhelmed.
Now set your business goal for the month and also your family goal for the month.For example:
– I will study a chapter of the Bible with my family and ensure we internalize the teachings by writing out what we learned and what needs to be implemented.
– Focus on growing my Instagram following this month.
Whatever you need to do, you just write it down and then you move on to the next stage.
3 Break down your Goals into Tasks that need to be accomplished
At this stage you are feeding the pipeline of achieving a more organized family and business, so you get to break down your goals into tasks that are doable within the time slots you will apportion to them.For example
Family Goal Task
-Read verse 1- 3 on Monday
-Read verse 4-5 on Tuesday etc
-You now choose the time slot in which you will start and complete the Bible study for that week.
-Business Goal Tasks
-Research Instagram hashtags to use
-Create content for your Instagram followers
-Search for competitors or collaborators that you will follow
-Join Instagram pods to help improve engagement and following.
Each task must be completed within the time slots assigned, of course, you have to make room for interruptions or disruptions that may make it difficult for you to finish your tasks.
Amongst the tasks you will list are those that will be recurring every week, for example, your kid’s swimming lessons will hold every Tuesday.
For example, my first son takes swimming lessons every Tuesday so I make sure that his swimming gear is in a place where I can easily pick it up and bag it on our way out in the morning.
If you are a mom whose kids are not of school age yet, you can outline activities that you will get them to do at specific times and thus create a routine.
Tips for planning to organize your week
To help you get started here are examples of the list of activities you are likely to plan for in your family.
List of your Family activity
-Meal planning & Prepping
-Healthcare for family
List of weekly activities for my business:
This is what my list looks like, you can write yours down depending on what you do as a business from home.
-Content planning & creation
-Social Media promotion, marketing, and engagement
-New opportunities research/ product development
-Client meetings/ email response
-Business side overview
After you have done all this, move on to the next step
4 Assign activities to time slots for each day and schedule
Now that you have listed all your activities, you will now have to separate your activities into recurring activities and non-recurring ones
Recurring activities are the ones you do daily, while none recurring activities may be done once a month. For example, house maintenance may be done once a month, or for your business, you may choose to plan all your content ideas for a month so that you can use the weeks for research and creation.
Another non-recurring business activity may be to use a scheduling app like Tailwind to schedule all your posts for pinning to your Pinterest board for the month, that way you cut down your social media marketing time by half and then focus more of your energy on content creation.
If you have not heard of Tailwind before it’s a scheduling tool that helps you automatically schedule your Pins to your chosen Pinterest boards at times that you choose.

Depending on what kind of business that you are running from home, your schedules may differ but what matters is that you are planning your way to be more effective and productive in your business hence you are able to succeed.
Using our initial example, the recurring activity for both family and business can be
-Read verse 1-3 etc every day from 5pm-6pm
-Share content on my Instagram account and engage with my followers from 12 noon- 12.30pm.
Nonrecurring activities example could be
-Write down what was learned at the end of the chapter reading and what we will practice as a family going forward based on what we learned.- Friday
-Schedule all the Content I will use this month on Sunday
The next step will be
-Put the nonrecurring activities first on your calendar, before you enter your recurring activities. This is because your non-recurring activities may often take chunks of time so you want to get that off your table first before you add the recurring activities which you can maneuver around should you lack for time.
-You can use some scheduling tools that I will later mention in this post to help you create your to-do lists for the day, that way you wake up knowing what you intend to achieve for the day.
-Color code your different activities, for example, you can use different colors to indicate which one is a home activity and which one is a business activity this helps you to avoid mix-ups. For example, All home activities are in green, while business activities are yellow.
5 Assign Time Blocks for Activities
The next thing to do is to assign time blocks for your activities, for example, you can assign time blocks that are for when you get to spend time with your kids or time blocks that are for writing or product development.
This time blocks are then broken down into different time slots for different activities. Using our initial example.
-Time for bible study – 5pm – 6 pm
-Preparation and setting- 10 mins
-Word reading – 10 mins
-Discussion -20 mins
-Questions and Answers- 10 mins
-Wrap up- 10 mins
Tools you may need to organize your week as a Home business owner.
Planners and Binders :
This may include Blogging binders, Home cleaning binder, Medical binders and Blog planners.
One of the best materials I have seen when it comes to planning for your blog is the Honest Bloggers Binder Bundle by Sarah Titus, it is made up of one Blogging binder 4 hot selling ebooks on vital questions a Blogger may want to know, she also has a variety of other vital planners that will help you organize your week more effectively.

For instance, if you are going for grocery shopping and your Hubby will like you to get something that’s not in the list, he can add it to your schedule for that day and you are notified of this new addition.
There are many ways you can stay organized to ensure that you achieve your dreams as home business owner.
If you are not used to planning and organizing, you will find this piece a bit overwhelming, the most important thing is to start off and stick to your routine, don’t forget to be flexible as nothing is rigid, sometimes you may have to move things around to see what works.
A word for anyone that has a baby that is still young in age perhaps some few months, know that his or her nap time is the best time you have to do uninterrupted work.
Starting the sleep training of your baby on time may be the key that unlocks your productivity.
One of the best times I get to work uninterrupted is at night, because all my kids are in bed by then, I can then do my writing because I love to concentrate while writing, I hate interruptions as it often disrupts my flow.
For you It may be early mornings, whatever time it is, ensure its something you are comfortable with, there will be no need setting up schedules that you keep missing and ends up increasing your stress levels.
