How to Launch a Family Blog

Thanks to social media, sharing the momentous, touching, fun, and adorable aspects of family life is simple.

In fact, it’s as easy as uploading a photo, typing an update or caption, and clicking a button.

However, it doesn’t add the personal touch of a family blog.

By launching a family blog, you can tell a story, include all the content you want, and indulge your creativity without limitation.

Find out how to launch your first family blog, connect with relatives and fellow parents, and even monetize your content with a few easy steps.

A family blog can be started by anyone whether you are working mom who wants to run working mom blogs

or a stay at home mom who wants to curate your family journey and also make money through it.

To launch a  Family blog here are the key steps

1 Choose a Hosting platform

2 Choose a Blogging Content management system

3Create an Audience Persona

4 Market your Blog

5 Monetize your Blog

1-Choosing a Hosting Platform

If you’re intimidated by starting a blog, you aren’t alone. The idea of finding a domain name can seem overwhelming to the technologically inexperienced, but it’s simpler than you realize.

To launch your website, you need to find a web hosting provider. These companies have servers, which allow internet users to connect to your website.

If you’re unsure of where to start, look for a hosting company with a good reputation, excellent tech support, and a low price.

A very popular hosting platform with these attributes is Jvzoohost, they give a very cheap alternative for starting your blogging journey.

Sign up now for hosting!

For a small price per month, you can get a hosting provider like right now, and if you do not want to pay for an all year round subscription,  you can pay monthly, you are not locked in for a whole year like other competitors.

They have top-notch and excellent customer service, they listen to your complaints and work hard to help you when you have issues with their service.

To sign up for Jvzoohost  click below

If you, however, are not sure of Jvzoohost then maybe you may consider this alternative: Bluehost, they also give you top-notch service and are much cheaper but you have to get a whole year signed up to access the cheap price.

It’s not a bad offer considering you have a free domain thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Creating a Domain Name

Once you’ve chosen a host, the next step is creating a domain name. A domain name is what people will type into their browser to visit your site. As a rule of thumb, this name should:

-Be easy to spell.

-Be short and to the point.

-Include keywords relevant to your site such as “family” or “parent.”

-End in .com for easy navigation to your site.

Remember that some of the more obvious choices are already taken, so use a domain search to check your idea’s availability.

2-Choose a Content Management System

Once you have your domain name nailed down, the next this is to choose a content management system.

You’ll want to use an open-source content management system (CMS), such as WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla!, to add blog posts, add web pages, and upload media to your blogging platform.

If you read the above-linked article, you will be able to make a better choice as to which to use, but nothing beats WordPress because of its use of Plugins as a functionality that minimizes using any type of coding skills to make your blogging platform top notch.

3-Create Audience Personas

An audience persona is a fictitious representation of your ideal client, reader or follower.

To create audience personas, you need to ask yourself:

-How can my reader benefit from my blog?

-Where is my audience located online? e,g Instagram, Facebook. Twitter, Snapchat etc.

-What age is my audience?

-What hobbies are my audience interested in?

-What’s the average household income of my audience?

-What unique problems or pain points does my audience have?

-How does my blog address that pain point?

When you have answers to these questions, you can start creating engaging content that truly resonates with your readers.

For example: If you know your audience has a household income of more than $75k a year, this means you can definitely talk about going on vacations.

If your readers have a household income of below $30k a year, it’s probably best to skip vacation topics and focus more on how you and your family save money.

You can share these tips with the audience.

4-Marketing Your Blog

Once you’ve started to build your blog, the next step is to bring people to your website. Thankfully, there are a seemingly endless amount of ways to achieve this.

Creating killer content, maintaining an active social media presence, or crafting guest posts on other family blogs will help you find an online presence that people will come to trust and enjoy.

If you want to be much more successful in your blogging business, then you cannot overlook the idea of Blogger outreach strategy.

This singular approach can put your blog in front of audiences that may take you years to achieve.

Read up my post on Blogger outreach campaigns and you will be well on your way to running a thriving blog.

5-Monetizing Your Blog

-Influencer marketing

Now that you’ve created a steady stream of traffic to your website, it’s time to capitalize on the fruits of your labor and your trusted voice through influencer marketing.

For example, influencer Scarlet Paolicchi uses her top-ranked family blog to conduct product reviews and vouch for services.

Companies pay Scarlet for this work, creating a steady income stream for her to enjoy from a popular blog.

-Allowing Ads Is Important

When you start a family blog, you’ll have to decide whether you want it to feature ads.

Some family blog owners make money only through influencer marketing and affiliate tactics and not ads.

However, allowing ads is a great way to boost your income potential.

When allowing ads, you need to make sure they properly positioned on the blog itself.

You don’t want your readers distracted by ads as they are trying to read your content.

Allowing ads on your blog will require that you handle them yourself or you can let a service provider handle them for you. Google Adsense and Sovrn are two simple-to-use ad programs you can take advantage of. Once you hit page views exceeding 100k a month, you’ll want to let a service provider, like AdThrive, manage your ads for you. They will be able to curate ads that make you the most money.

-Decide Whether You Want to Be an Affiliate

Another important choice to make is whether you want to take advantage of affiliate marketing.

Almost all successful family blog owners will go this route. Look at their pages and you’ll likely see a statement that says “this post contains affiliate links.” This means the writer is being paid to promote other brands.

If you click on one of those affiliate links and make a purchase, the blogger will make money.

Sometimes, the affiliate commission can be more than $100. Here are some affiliates companies that pay you a good commision:   Vigilinks, Izea,

-Sell a Product or Service

Probably the most notable way to make money on a family blog is to sell your own product or service. Once you become successful and garner high traffic, you’ll be considered a family blog guru.

You can take the knowledge and experience you have learned through your years as a family blogger and sell it in the form of an eBook, webinar, or master class.

You can make thousands of dollar on a single eBook. People will pay you to teach them how you blog and make money.

The best part about selling your own product or service is that you have full control over the cost.

Even better, you get to keep all of the profits. The only thing you will be out is the expense of what it took to create that book. For example: If you create a book and have an editor proofread it, you’ll have to pay that editor his or her fee.

Once you have sorted out how to monetize your blog, there are still some key issues you have to consider, they include

Blog Part-Time or Full-Time

An important decision you will need to make when launching a family blog is whether you want to tackle it on a part- or full-time basis.

Many family blog owners have chosen to step away from their full-time careers and completely devote themselves to blogging.

Running your own family blog gives you the chance to set your own schedule, work from home, and make as much money as you want.

The amount of money you make, of course, is parallel to how much time you invest in creating and marketing your blog.

A lot of people are mistaken and believe that running a family blog is simple. They fail to see that it requires impeccable writing skills as well as the ability to study one’s audience.

After all, you can’t create content that your audience enjoys unless you know who they are. To discover who your audience is, you will need to create audience personas.

Involve Your Family

If you’re starting a family blog, you, of course, need to ensure your family is onboard.

After all, your audience will truly enjoy being able to read content and watch videos that are intimate and about your family.

From the get-go, you should speak with your family and let them know what you will be writing about, such as family dinners and vacations.

If a family member ever has something they don’t want you to post about, it’s imperative that you don’t.

You don’t want to monetize off of something that your family member doesn’t want to be shared.

Dedicate Time Each and Every Day to Your Blog

There’s a lot that goes into running a successful family blog. Ideally, though, you don’t want to slave over a computer 16 hours a day to keep it up and going.

In fact, having more time to spend with your family is a major benefit of running your own family blog.

To ensure you don’t get overwhelmed with related tasks, though, you’ll need to put aside a certain number of hours to run the blog each day

. Anywhere from four to eight hours should suffice. During this time, you will be creating content, reaching out to influencers, and reviewing your blog’s analytics.

Expect Criticism

No matter how successful you are, it’s important to be prepared for criticism. When operating a family blog, you are essentially putting you and your whole family’s life in the eye of the public.

There are going to be aspects of your life that some people don’t agree with. Ignoring these people and having an open mind to the opinions of others is crucial to staying devoted to your blog and monetizing it.

By following these tips, you can create a family blog that becomes a must-visit website for parents around the globe.

Like any other type of business, you get what you put in, but with the right content and marketing, you can turn a hobby into a flexible and profitable career.

Launching a family blog is a venture worth pursuing especially if you can follow the 5 steps which have been outlined above.

How to choose the right affiliate marketing program

Learn the attributes of a good affiliate marketing program
Affiliate Marketing for Newbie Bloggers

What is affiliate marketing? it’s a word that may be new to a beginner Blogger, one who just started blogging or is about to start but to veterans, it’s not a new word, In fact, its a word that means earning income for Bloggers.

Affiliate marketing is promoting other peoples products for a commission payment. Affiliate marketing can be a huge source of income for your blog if you have gained a following and people trust your advice or the services you offer. Just like you are likely to trust your medical doctor if he were to prescribe medication for you.

Bloggers use affiliate marketing for making income from their blogs because most times when you are writing a post where you are providing useful information you are likely to point people to products and sites that will help them to achieve their desired results.

By linking to that site via your post, you help your reader to achieve their goals of reading your Blog and you also make income from that referral, I will count affiliate marketing as a referral based business.

After you have learned what affiliate marketing is, the next thing will be how does it work.

In this post, I will be detailing to you, how it works, what affiliate options are open to you and how to choose the right ones.

How to choose the right Affiliate program

When you want to start affiliate marketing the first thing you need to do is to decide to choose the right affiliate link. This is because if you are careful to choose the right affiliate program, you increase your chances of spending your time promoting products that will pay you better and increase your income earning potentials. The right affiliate link has the following attributes

It fits in with your audience type:

You use affiliate marketing links that tie into the overarching message or niche which your blog is all about or what your post is about. It will make no sense for you to choose an affiliate link whose products do not tie into your niche, this is because most affiliate links are tied to your original post while writing, so if you choose the wrong affiliate link which does not fit into your niche, you may find it difficult to slide it into your post.

For instance today I am writing about affiliate marketing, the easiest thing for me to do is to recommend affiliate products that you can sign up for that pays well. One of such affiliate program is Viglink, Viglink is an affiliate marketing program that is a marketplace for a great number of products covering a lot of niches. Signing up with Viglink will give you access to a whole lot of other products.

The good thing about using Viglink for affiliate marketing program is that once their code is inserted in your blog, they do the affiliate linking themselves. They are able to affiliate any word that ties into a link on their platform thereby saving you the stress of inputting their affiliate URL in your posts. To sign up for Viglink you can click on any of the banners shown below.

Note for instance how I used the affiliate link in the above post, I explained briefly how this affiliate link benefits you and pointed you to where you can sign up for it. This example above fits in with my overall post idea today.

Another example, For instance, my Blog that talks about starting home businesses so it will not be out of place for me to encourage you to use a Shopify store to start your online selling business, it ties into my overall niche. But if I started selling to you a product that has to do with baby teething perhaps I saw a baby teething product which has  a good commission and I decided to fit into my post write up today, I will struggle to find a place to fit it into because my post today is not about selling baby items.

Choose Affiliate links with a good commission percentage:

I always love affiliate products that give you up to 40% mark up, of course, it all depends on the final price of the product, for instance, I once made a sale via one of my affiliate links, that link paid me about 45 dollars. It had a 50% commission on it. It was a service based product. I have noticed that the service based product affiliate often pays more. For instance, when you are promoting a course, the course owner is often willing to pay you 30- 50 % of each sale that you make. I believe that intangible based products pay more commission s than tangible products. That’s why people who promote courses and software often make more money from affiliate marketing than those who promote physical goods.

VigLink banner

For example, a digital seller of ebooks or courses may pay you 50% commission while an Amazon will pay you 5% or even 2% of the sales. This is where you need to make a decision, do I promote the products that pay me more? of course, you can as long as it fits into your niche. To know which affiliate networks will accept you as a Newbie blogger, click here

Choose affiliates  programs with a wide range of Products:

There are affiliates that gather a lot of products under them in that once you are signed up with them you have access to a wide range of products and services. Signing up with one of such affiliates saves you the headache of signing up or applying to each of the products one by one. These types of affiliate programs are called affiliate marketplace, this is because they have a lot of products within all kinds of niches signed up for them. Having access to that affiliate marketplace means you can easily;y apply to the ones you like and have them approve you. Examples of such affiliate programs include Viglink, Awin, and Shareasale

Choose affiliate Links that offer extended cookie period:

This is the time it takes for a customer to come back and make a final purchase. Sometimes a person might click through from your blog to a link but may not be ready to make a purchase immediately. Perhaps that person will come back say in two weeks time to make a purchase. If the cookie length is one week, even though that customer made a purchase finally, it may not be accredited to you so you won’t get paid. But if that cookie length was about 30 days, anytime that person comes back to make a purchase without necessarily going through your blog again, you will still get credit for that purchase.

Choose affiliate links that offer both CPC and CPA:

Most links on affiliate marketing are based on either CPC( Cost per click) or CPA( Cost per action). Cost per click means that as long as someone clicks on your link to the website even if they don’t make a purchase you get paid. Cost per action means that the person who clicked through has to do something, sometimes its a purchase or perhaps fill out a form. Whatever they get to do which was the desired intent of the advertiser, you get paid for such actions. Some advertisers pay for both actions while some will only pay for CPA.

ThirstyAffiliates

What to consider before you sign up for an affiliate offer

Minimum Payout: Do they have a have threshold of payout such as requiring that you make up to 500 dollars or 1000 dollars before you are paid, you should pick affiliate programs that will pay you out for as low as 50 dollars. For a blogger starting out, every dollar counts.

Promotional Materials e.g banners, videos, links, affiliate panels are the affiliate program structured enough to provide you with the materials you will need to drive your promotions. This is important as it helps give you more options for promotions. For example, a text link may be great for some promotions perhaps through your Newsletter but the visual banners may be good for online social media channels or Blog posts.

Payment method: What type of payment method do they have? PayPal, check, transfer are they flexible with their payment methods? These are important parameters because it’s not enough to make money from the affiliate marketing efforts, getting the cash in your pocket is important too.

Tax forms: Do you need to fill out a tax form before you collect your payment

Are they popular?  are people recommending that you join them? this is often an indication that people are being paid, beware of affiliate programs that people are not promoting. I will always advise that you search for a review of such programs before you join them.

How to attach affiliate Links to your Blog posts.

People often ask, how do I attach affiliate links to my Blog posts.

Manually Linking

There are various ways to do this, you can do it manually, meaning that if you are writing your post and you get to the place where you need to use your affiliate links you can refer to it by highlighting and then adding your affiliate link.

Remember that for each affiliate Program you sign up for you are given a special link to your account, this special link is to enable the product owners to track your sales. If you link to just the normal website link provided on their website, you will not get paid because they cannot tell that the customer came from you. Therefore be sure that you obtain a product link before you can then link to that product.

Another way to manually add an affiliate link is to insert the code which often represents the advertiser’s banners on your website.

Automated Linking:

You can use a Plugin like Thirstyaffiliate, they help to cloak your links and protect the income you make from your affiliate links.

You can also use WordPress Auto links if you are using WordPress as your content management system: WP auto link helps list your links for web crawlers so that people can easily click on it.

How to Know which Affiliate Programs will accept you.

Various affiliate Programs require some conditions before you can be accepted into their network. There are however some affiliate programs that will accept you as a Newbie blogger as long as your content is not offensive. Please read my post on affiliate networks that will accept you. By reading up that post you will get access to my curated list of affiliate networks that will accept you as a Newbie Blogger.

6 things a Stay at home mom struggles with

The struggles of a stay at home mom
6 things a stay at home mom struggles with

I have noticed that a lot of you my audience resonates with what this post is all about, so this has prompted me to develop an audio podcast you can take along with you, should you feel that you can’t take the time to read through this post or perhaps you want to listen to the tips I shared in this podcast more often. Helpful Tips for the Struggling Stay at home mom

The word stay at home mom evokes a lot of different pictures in peoples mind, for some, it’s a word used to describe women who don’t like to work but prefer to sit at home and watch movies all day in the name of looking after their kids. I really wish it were so but I do know now it’s not so.

Stay at home mom is a woman who wears all the hats there is in the home plus some more without having the attendant payment to show for it.
When a woman chooses to be a stay at home mom, it’s often a huge sacrifice she has to make in other to see that her home is well run or in other to see that her kids have the kind of training and nurturing that she desires.

Some women have been known to leave lucrative careers to become stay at home moms because the effect of leaving their lovely ones in the hands of other people to care for became too much to bear and therefore they chose that off the career ramp option to care for the most important people in their lives.

For some people it may make sense for others, it may not because after all is said and done, it’s the investment you put in your family that matters most.

Children don’t care if they are in the most expensive house or car or wear the best clothes, as long as their parents were there for them when they needed them most.So today I am going to share with you the 6 things that stay at home mom struggles with because I have been there too and I know what it feels like

.SABON

Feelings of Inadequacy:

If you are a first-time mom who just chose to stay at home, this may resonate well with you, that feeling of do I know what I just did? I mean I just left my well-paying job to stay home to take care of my baby. Sometimes you may even feel like even the mom job you are not doing so well at it. The truth may also be that at least for your paid job you were well trained but to become a mom, you had no prior training and yet you are expected to be perfect at it.

You feel inadequate because you are trying to cope with having to leave a career that once defined what you could bring to the table at home and then you also have to cope with the fact that your new job does not have any job description attached to it. There is no end to where your job stops, you are the nanny, caregiver, nurse, housecleaner,  and any other thing that comes in between including cook, driver, encourager and the list goes on.

While you struggle with coping with all these issues, guess where your report card is shown, at places where you get some judgmental looks or comments for not getting your act together as a mom. From those who think that by giving your child the bottle, you are just being lazy, “every hard working mom should be able to breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months of a babies life”, does this sound like a familiar jab?, well for me I tried it but it didn’t work, in fact I got sick before it dawned on me that everyone has to find what works for one in this journey of mommyhood. My first son loved the bottle, my daughter liked breastfeeding a lot, in fact, she refused the bottle and went straight to eating solids.

So what do you do with all these struggles that you are facing?.I would like you to know, that the first time you start as a new stay at home mom, it will seem strange to you just like when you resume your post on a new job, but with time, you will find your rhythm. From then you can then begin to try out new things and see what works and what doesn’t work, you can then decide to throw out what doesn’t work for you and choose what you are comfortable with. And who says that as you go along you won’t acquire the experience which you can package and sell out to new moms like you for a fee. For how to do that please read my post on how to turn your life experience into a money printing online business

.Oasap Limited

Overworked and Underappreciated:

The interesting thing about being a stay at home mom is that you don’t have a specific work time, from the time your feet hit the floor in the morning time, assuming you had all night sleep which is often a mirage when your kids are between ages of 0-4 years.

Your work is almost like a round the clock work from fixing breakfast, lunch, and dinner to cleaning the home, running errands and shopping. You are practically at work even when others are having a break, no wonder you sometimes feel overwhelmed and overworked.

You may also feel underappreciated when you are not being praised for the work you do at home. Some husbands have been known to come home and say, “ honey what were you doing all day that my dinner is not yet ready”?.

No one understands the many times you have to calm a crying baby or break up siblings quarrels or even act as a judge and jury. It can make you feel like your energy is being sucked out daily, my little advice about this is to find that time to rest during the day, if it means putting the kids to nap in the afternoon and taking your own nap too to get your energy back please do so.
SABON
Of course, it may mean that some things won’t get done perhaps a scattered house or unfolded laundry, but like  I always say, a grumpy mama is no good to anyone. So always find the time to tune off during the day and just relax. It may not necessarily be sleep, sometimes I find that just sitting and watching cartoons with my little ones helps me to relax. You can also choose to quit trying to have everything in the perfect place in other to feel alright.

Now if you are a hubby reading this, know that appreciation goes a long way to make a stay at home mom’s day better. A night off duty will be nice, a back rub here and a foot massage there will make a world of difference.

The baby company only:

When you are a SAHM with a baby at home, the only company you will have is that of a kid, while that is lovely I mean who hates the company of her babies, but sometimes you want to have adult conversations. Where you to be working outside your home, you will often meet new people or at least converse with people like yourself but for a stay at home mom, it’s often baby talk all day long until hubby comes home. This might look good some days at least you have some time to think things through and strategize for any project you have on hand without any distractions. Unfortunately, this may not be the case always because the same distractions can come from children too.

So what does a stay at home do in this case, I say in any case be involved in online forums where you can discuss issues that bother you or vent on what you are going through. When time permits, pick up the phone and call a close friend or family member with whom you can spend time discussing with or exchanging ideas with, this will make you feel a lot better. If you are working from home as a blogger or doing any form of online business, belonging to an online group of people of the same challenges as you can help you gain a better perspective of issues you may be dealing with at that particular time.,

Finances:

This aspect of the struggles of a stay at home mom is very controversial, for some, it’s the constant struggle to stretch the money available to cover all the household bills, for some it may be that you didn’t even have enough to last you throughout the month. For some, It may be that you just have just enough but not excess to take care of some niceties that you are used to when you were working outside the home. While for some people finances may not be the problem but just the feeling that you are not earning anything at all and so you are a one income household.

Whichever divide you fall into know that there is a way out of it, working has been redefined so much right now that you can earn your income even while staying at home, if finance is a major issue for you, then consider ways of working from home to earn extra income.

Here are a few options to earn extra income from home. You can start a home business, offer your services as a freelancer from your home by signing up on platforms such as Fiverr, upwork or you can choose to work for other people from home which may entail applying for online jobs that you can do. Which ever way, you choose to do it, there is a way out you don’t have to feel like your finances took a nose dive and you can’t change it.
Fiverr.com
Sometimes you may discover that starting that home business was what you really needed to take your family off the 9- 5 rat race. If starting a home business is your thing, then consider reading my post on how to choose the right home business for you.

Feeling Left Out:

Have you ever gone for an outing where you bumped into an old school colleague or work mate and you started discussing especially pertaining to your field of study or work and you felt left out because a lot has changed without you being aware? This happens particularly when you are a new mom, for the first one year and especially the first 6 months its like you are underwater, your life is practically buried within fulfilling your babies needs, first-time moms can resonate with this better. If you carry on discussing you may feel like you don’t seem to know the trends that are even going on now, thanks to your new job, stay at home mom Lol, but seriously those feelings of being left out if left unchecked can begin to make you resent your decision.

But before you go feeling sorry for yourself or getting angry, understand that you need to remind yourself the reasons why you made your choice in the first place, and make peace with the fact that you may not know a lot of things that are currently going on in your former field of work due to your new position but you can begin to make amends by building and connecting with people who are on the same journey as you are and understand the challenges.

Keeping up with colleagues from your former field of influence may not be useful to you if you are not planning to continue in that line of career. Realize that you have changed career and focus on what you must do in the now to get you quickly ramped up on the new journey you are on.

It may mean taking courses to get you ready if you want to start a home business or even starting out without training at all that way you learn the hard knocks your own way.

Either way, you are gathering knowledge that will aid your journey as a stay at home mom who wants to work from home. If you have been brainstorming ideas about different types of home businesses you may need to read my post on 5 posts that teach you how to make money online.

The truth is that being a stay at home mom doesn’t mean that you can’t utilize your skills in other ways to earn money. With the advent of blogging these days, all forms of knowledge are now monetizable.

For example, who knew that you could sell your knowledge on how to organize your home, take care of a newborn, keep yourself fit e.tc. In fact, information that used to just sit with you doing nothing has become sources of income. The online media has made it possible to be able to share such information’s now and make good money from it.

Do you consider Blogging as one of the avenues to sell your knowledge online, then hop on over to my post on how to start a blog when you are not a techie and learn how to start a blog in as little as 2 hours.

Need for time out

As a stay at home mom, there are times you just feel like you really want a leave, I mean people who work 9-5 have that opportunity of taking a leave to just go home and relax and recharge before going back to work. But for the stay at home mom, she doesn’t get to get that time off.

There are no leave days, where are you leaving to? , your home is supposed to be your leave escape but now you get to stay in it every day and it doesn’t look like it will make for a leave escape anymore. The good thing about this situation is that you don’t have to apply for your leave in other to take one.  or technically you can apply to your hubby to take a leave from work and stay home so you could take the much-needed leave in other to refresh and recharge.

You can choose to go out that day with friends and just have a girls day out or better still visit a close family member whom you can relax in her house and feel like you are in your own home and on holiday without the attendant stress of having to care for your home.

Maybe you can go for a mini holiday to a nearby tourist attraction and just spend time alone, pampering and recharging yourself. Of course, there will be a time and place for family vacation but this little time out is for you alone, so you can be a better mother to your kids and give your best to them. Thinking of taking that mini vacation then try using Booking.com, they have excellent services for your vacation needs they have budget hotel rooms if that suits you.

Affiliate Networks that accept a Newbie Blogger

Affiliate Network for Newbie Bloggers

Affiliate incomes are often the easiest way to start earning money on your Blog as a newbie blogger. This is because it is often about promoting other people’s products that you have used before, or you believe in. By promoting these products, you make money by getting a commission once you make a sale. This idea is used by many product creators to get people to market their products, It’s a win-win idea.  For some of the affiliates I mentioned in my checklist, you can make up to 60% of the products price as a commission when you make a sale.

Affiliate marketing is one income avenue you can easily use to start monetizing your blog right from the beginning without creating your own products. if you are good on affiliates, you may even find it earns you a chunk of your Blog income before you start creating your own products.

There is one snag about affiliates though, not all affiliates will accept your application to be an affiliate of their products because they have their own specifications on the type of audience they want and the number of followings you have on social media. While that reason can motivate some people to go work on their numbers, it can also discourage some few people.

When I started my blogging journey, I thought I will be accepted on every affiliate network I applied to once I had my domain name and a few posts on my blog but it wasn’t so. I wished there was a list that could show me which ones will accept me and which ones will not so I could focus on applying to those ones instead of going through rejects. So I have created a checklist of some affiliate networks that will easily accept a newbie Blogger.

Since you are a newbie Blogger, you may want to read my post on the best plugins to use. In that post, I explained the 7 must have Plugins for every new blogger.

What Fathers Day means to this Generation

5 things this generation expects from a Father

We are in a new generation, a generation that has the kind of gadgets that we only dreamed of or never even thought about in our own times. I was born in the eighties, so permit me to say that many things are new to me, each day I discover things that never existed when I was born. Things that were strange to us then have become the norm now. Our generation of Parents are in a quagmire, they are confused as to how to guide this present generation.

When this generation of Kids asks you a question, you have to sometimes take the time to research before you know the right answer to give. This is because things have so changed that you need to be sure you are even giving the relevant answer.  You may be disgraced by your Kid if you are not careful, sometimes the answer they seek is more of an affirmation of what they already think is the answer.  After all we live in a generation of information overload and this information is available on every platform you can think of.

This prompts me to think that this is a generation that needs Fatherhood like never before. Fathers can not afford to let them Father themselves because the knowledge they might get from other sources may not be what will help them mature into responsible adults.

Children in this generation need a strong male presence to teach them what real men should behave like. We are at a time when the real men should stand up and show the way to our upcoming young kids what it means to be a Father before they loose out. So on this Fathers day celebration here are  5 points that speak to me as a mom on what Fatherhood means to this generation. It is what every child desires in a father.

5 Things this generation expects from a Father

Be responsible:

A certain great man once said:  responsibility is the price you pay for greatness. In this generation where responsibility is being abandoned like no other, you owe it to your children to show what it means to be responsible.

To be responsible means to understand what your role is in their life and to fulfill that role. Kids desire to see how to take on responsibility from you as a father, they don’t want you to be only the provider of the resources for the home even though that’s important. They want to learn life lessons from you, they want to learn how to handle the curveballs that Life often throws.

When they are confused as to why they need to work towards their dreams, it is you the Father that they will look to, to show them how following your dreams is the key to unlocking your happiness. When a Father abandons the family, a deep rift is created which cannot be filled by the mom no matter how much she tries.

Not growing up with a father in the home, has its own impact in the life of a child, from Drug to alcohol abuse, to depression and Poverty.Statistics from the National Council for Fathering stated that Children in Female-headed homes are more likely to be poor than those who are headed by married couples families. The rate was 47.5% versus 10.9% according to US Dept of Health and Human services.

They Look to you for a sense of direction:

Children look up to their Parents for a sense of what they should be doing. As a father in a home, you are like a captain of that ship. It’s you who determines which direction this ship will sail through in other to reach safe harbor.

An absentee Dad cannot sail the home ship, this calls for not only to be present in the home but to be involved in the life of your family. A family where the dad is actively fulfilling his role as the one who sets the direction and shows what they should be doing per time will produce kids who are more confident to face the world. The kids will find that the routines and boundaries set for them help set their internal values. They will grow up to live by it.

When a home is incomplete, confusion reigns because different values are being infused into the child at the same time and they do not know if its Dads value or moms values that should be imbibed. What often results is the child rebels and chooses to do what his peer groups are doing. This is where Peer group pressure wins over parental control and values. With Tons of information on Social media consistently espousing values that do make for a good upbringing, if the home is not in order, kids may turn to such for advice or seek a sense of direction from the wrong sources.

You will be a King in their Eyes when you treat their Mom like a Queen:

Most Men want to be the King of the Manor, but like most castles with Kings, a Queen also reigns. When you want your kids to look to you as the Royalty you are in the home, then you have got to do right by their mom too.

Most children have an affinity for their moms that are second to none. When you want that respect that comes with being the man of the home, then you must also show respect to your wife. When they see you respect and honor the work she does in raising them, you will win their heart the more.

I never saw someone who treated his woman right that the children did not adore. In fact, it is a known fact that children from abusive homes tend to be abusive too. When you abuse your spouse, you may not know it but you are raising a generation of abusive children. Children will respect a father who honors their mom.

As they grow, it will form a foundation on which they build the type of relationship they have with the opposite sex. When a home is dysfunctional, the children grow up with a lot of psychological issues that stem from how their Dad treated their own mom. Sometimes a man may be dealing with issues in his relationship with his wife which stems from how she saw her own Dad treat her own mom.

Children want their Interest to come first:

One of the first requirement of becoming a parent is the ability to put your kid’s interest first. But we see today that it’s not so, we have a generation o f parents who do not know what it means to be a parent, the Job comes first, the relationship comes first, sometimes even the hobby comes first.

We should put our children’s interest first because it will form the foundation of how they perceive life. When a child feels like he or she does not seem important, they will be willing to go with anyone who is able to make them feel better than they feel at home. Sometimes the Juvenile delinquencies we see are a result of insecure children from homes where the father is too busy closing the next deal to have time for his kids.

Girls especially want the affirmation that comes from their Dads because he is the first man they will ever have a relationship with, her relationship with her Daddy will often define how she views men in life. If that relationship is handled well, we often have a girl that is confident and able to handle a relationship with the opposite sex. She is not afraid to speak up when something is not going on well in her own relationship and can often tell when a relationship is not healthy.

A girl from a home where love is freely given will not be willing to fall into the arms of any man she who expresses Love to her. She can tell when Love is genuine and when it’s not.Sometimes teenage pregnancy is the end result of little girls seeking affirmation from the wrong person.

One thing I have always known is that am yet to see a person who loved spending more time at work than with his family. In making decisions for the home, a Father should remember the kids are the reason he works so hard so he ought to consider their interest.

That big promotion that will take you away from the family so much and deny you the joy of being there when it matters to your child, may not be worth it after all.The good thing about these sacrifices is that they are not forever, children grow up one day and they will always hold dear in their heart what you did to make them happy.

After all the Physical is taken care of their Spiritual Lives needs looking after too:

When all is said and done, they only thing that matters is how you were able to pass on your Faith in God if you believe in one to your kids. God said of Abraham, for I know him, he will command his household to follow after me. The next question you should be asking yourself is; will God have such a testimony about you?. A Father is called to be the priest in the home, the one who gathers everyone around the table to pray for the family issues. When a father is open with his children, he can call them to prayer for issues that are happening that needs God intervention. They can stand together to rebuke what the enemy is doing in the Family and set it right.

It is also your duty as a Father to pray your children into their God given destiny. Children face a variety of temptations in this present world, at this time. There is no better time to pray for them to make the right choices in life and live lives that give God glory.

For when your Kids are grown up and are settled in life fulfilling Gods design for their life, you are a much happier Grandparent. It’s a sad thing for your children to be a continuous source of concern to you when they have grown up.

So there is call to action during this Fathers day celebration for Fathers to take the helm and teach their faith to their children, to pass on moral values for the next generation and to ensure that we leave behind children whose heart is for God.
